Welding Shield

The Welding Shield, sometimes called a welding hand shield or welder’s helmet shield, is specifically designed to protect the eyes and face of welders from intense ultraviolet and infrared radiation produced during arc welding processes, as well as from sparks, molten metal splatter, and flying debris. It typically features a dark, shaded filter lens set into a heat-resistant frame, allowing the welder to view the weld pool safely without being exposed to the damaging brightness of the electric arc, which can otherwise cause a painful condition known as arc eye or welder’s flash.

The fixed-shade lens blocks harmful radiation while still allowing enough visibility to control the welding process accurately, and some models include a flip-front lens that can be lifted to inspect the weld once the arc is extinguished, without needing to remove the entire shield. Welding shields are indispensable equipment in fabrication shops, shipyards, construction sites, and any facility where arc welding, MIG welding, or gas welding is performed. They are often paired with additional PPE such as leather aprons and gloves to protect the rest of the body from heat and sparks generated during the welding process.
