Ear Plug

Ear plugs are compact, lightweight hearing protection devices designed to be inserted directly into the ear canal to reduce the intensity of harmful noise reaching the eardrum. Typically made from soft, expandable foam or flexible silicone, they are rolled or compressed before insertion and then expand to conform to the shape of the individual’s ear canal, creating an effective acoustic seal. This design makes them extremely portable and convenient for workers who move frequently between quiet and noisy zones throughout their shift.

Many ear plugs are connected by a cord to prevent loss and to allow them to be worn around the neck when not in use, which is a practical feature for workers in machine shops, textile mills, printing presses, and other continuously noisy environments. Reusable variants can be washed and used multiple times, while disposable foam plugs are intended for single or limited use and are commonly supplied in bulk boxes for large workforces. Because of their low cost, small size, and effectiveness, ear plugs are one of the most widely distributed forms of PPE in noisy industrial settings, often issued alongside ear muffs for workers in extremely high-noise areas where double hearing protection is recommended.
