Gumboots

Gumboots, also known as rubber boots or wellington boots, are tall, waterproof footwear made entirely from rubber or PVC material, designed to keep the feet and lower legs completely dry while working in wet, muddy, or flooded conditions. Their seamless, molded construction ensures there are no stitching points where water could seep in, making them highly effective for use in agriculture, fishing, construction sites with standing water, and industrial cleaning operations that involve hosing down floors or equipment.

Many industrial-grade gumboots, such as the type shown with reinforced soles, also include a steel or composite toe cap and a puncture-resistant sole to provide additional protection against impact and sharp objects, combining the waterproofing benefits of rubber boots with the safety features typically found in standard safety shoes.

The high-cut design extends well above the ankle, sometimes reaching mid-calf or higher, offering protection against splashing liquids, mud, and even certain mild chemical exposures depending on the rubber compound used. Gumboots are widely used in agriculture, fisheries, mining, construction, and food processing industries where workers regularly encounter wet floors, mud, or standing water as part of their daily tasks.
